FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Our Services
What Is the Difference between a Wired, Telephone, and IP Intercom?
A wired intercom connects each unit through dedicated wiring: it is a direct and stable connection. A telephone intercom uses the building’s existing telephone network, which simplifies installation. An IP intercom, like Akuvox systems, operates over an internet network and offers advanced features: HD video, mobile app unlocking, and remote management. The choice depends on the existing wiring, the budget, and the desired features.
Do You Repair Intercom Brands Other than the Ones You Sell?
Yes. Our technicians diagnose and repair all types of intercom systems, regardless of the brand or original provider. If your system was installed by another company, we can still service it. In most cases, a targeted repair is enough without having to replace the entire system.
How Long Does It Take to Install an Intercom System?
The duration varies depending on the type of system, the number of units in the building, and the condition of the existing wiring. Every project is different. We evaluate your building on-site before giving you a precise timeline. Contact us to schedule an evaluation visit!
Is the Installation of Surveillance Cameras Legal in Quebec?
Yes, the installation of cameras is legal in Quebec, for both residential and commercial properties. However, their use is governed by the Civil Code of Quebec (articles 3 and 35) and the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms (article 5).
In summary: cameras must not infringe on the privacy of others, and the people being recorded must be informed. A professional installer ensures that the positioning and configuration of your system are compliant.
Can I View My Camera Footage Remotely?
Yes. The systems we install are configured for remote access. You can view footage in real time or on playback from your smartphone. Continuous recording or motion-detection recording is available based on your needs. Configuration is included in our installation service.
What Is Covered by Your Warranty?
Our one-year warranty covers the installation performed by our team. For equipment, the warranty duration depends on the manufacturer. We remain available after commissioning for any adjustment or troubleshooting. For details on the coverage for your project, contact us directly.
My Building Has an Old Intercom System. Does Everything Need to Be Replaced?
Not necessarily. We first evaluate the condition of the system and the wiring in place. In many cases, a repair or a partial upgrade is sufficient.
If the system has truly reached the end of its life, we recommend a replacement tailored to your building and your budget. The goal is always to recommend the most effective solution, not the most expensive one.
Can Access Control Be Integrated with My Existing Intercom?
Yes, in most cases. An access control system can be linked to your intercom to create unified management: the visitor identifies themselves, the resident authorizes access, and the door unlocks from the same system. We verify compatibility during the on-site evaluation.
Do You Offer Emergency Service for Intercom Breakdowns?
Our team is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On weekends, we respond to emergencies only. In most cases, we aim for next-day availability. To report an urgent breakdown, call us directly at 514-803-4764.
